Course Description: Using materials from Math-U-See, your student will progress through 30 lessons covering topics such as understanding and simplifying exponents, using order of operations and absolute value, expanding understanding of place value, evaluating radicals, identifying the least common multiple and greatest common factor, and more. Each week we will go over the lesson in class before your student returns home to you to practice the rest of the week and take the test. Before returning to class, they will watch a short video and/or read the book for the next lesson. Samples can be found at Mathusee.com.

Homework Requirements: Most weeks, students will have 5 to 6 worksheets and a test to complete at home during the week. These should take 15 to 30 minutes each. There will be comprehensive unit exams periodically. I will assign an extra review sheet the week before these exams, and the unit exams will be assigned in addition to regularly scheduled work.
Duration: 28 weeks
Grading: I will collect and grade one homework assignment and one test for each lesson. I will also assign and grade cumulative exams throughout the year. The final grade will be calculated as follows: 10% homework, 70% lesson tests, 20% cumulative exams
Course Credit: 1 math credit

Teacher Bio: This class is taught by Natasha Frye, a homeschooling mom of four girls. Natasha has a B.S. degree in mathematics and an M.Ed. from UNCG. She obtained her NC teaching license and became a tenured high school math teacher for NC public schools before becoming a stay at home mom. Natasha has taught Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus.
