Course Name: Middle School Spanish for Grades 6-8

Course Description: In middle school Spanish, students will learn a very similar curriculum to Spanish 1, but it will not be as rigorous. Students will learn the Spanish language and culture. Class will be a good mixture of English and Spanish. When class is in Spanish, students will be able to know what is going on in class because there will be pictures and gestures. Before moving on I will check for comprehension in English. Students will learn basic conversation, information about the Spanish speaking countries, where they are located, how to tell time, calendar talk, how to talk about the weather, parts of the body, clothing, favorite activities and much more. Students will get exposed to reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in Spanish. We will focus on speaking. By the end of middle school Spanish, students should be able to have a conversation about themselves and ask for information.

Books & Supplies required for purchase by families: There is no book purchase. I will supply the materials and vocabulary. Students need to have a folder or notebook
for class, something to write with and paper.

Teacher Bio: My name is Abby and I am a certified Spanish teacher. I taught public school for twelve years and then decided to stay home with my kids and homeschool. I have taught Spanish with homeschoolers for four years and I offer classes both in person and online. When I am not teaching Spanish online,you can find us gardening, preserving food, playing with our farm animals and doing crafts.

Course Description

Course Name: Hand Sewing for Grades 6-12
Grade Range : 6-12

Price: $ 225 for 28 weeks
Course Description: In this class students will learn the basics of hand sewing. They will learn how to thread a needle of different sizes, how to sew the 6 basic stitches that can be used in both hand sewing and embroidery. They will learn how to make simple crafts using what they have learned, they will also be exposed to crochet, embroidery, cross stitching, finger knitting and others if they have time. We will also do a service project in October for those who are fighting breast cancer. Your students will come home with so many projects that they can share proudly. This class is for both students who have had some sewing experience and no experience at all. This class will have different projects than the elementary class for the most part or for those who had sewing last year. Any questions, please ask!

Books & Supplies required for purchase by families : The only material that is required is a good pair of scissors. I will send out an email of what I recommend once sign ups have taken place. It is suggested that students have either a fabric marker or a black marker too (again I will send out some recommendations). Most materials will be provided for the students.Students are always welcome to get their own supplies. During the service project, students will have to purchase a bag of poly fil, but links will be provided several weeks in advance (most of the time it can be found at Walmart for about $5).
Homework Requirements: Only to bring scissors, marker, the needle that I give out and a positive attitude to class

Course Description: Introductory Spanish is a way for students to get a little taste of the Spanish language and culture. Students will learn basic conversation Spanish. Class will be conducted in a mixture of Spanish and English. Class will be a relaxed atmosphere so that all students can learn at their own pace. Students will learn how to introduce themselves to different people, ask and receive  identification  information,  alphabet,  numbers, time, colors, shapes and much more. Students will also learn more about the Spanish culture and different holidays that they may celebrate. Students will learn songs in Spanish and how to play some fun games in Spanish. Each year elementary Spanish has a mixture of students who have had Spanish before with me and who have never had Spanish. We do a variety of activities and worksheets so that there are no repeated activities year after year. If you have any questions, please ask!
